The Victorian Government must fund Stages 2 & 3 of Murrumbeena Primary School's VSBA-approved masterplan — a full-sized, competition-grade gym and community hub — in the 2027–28 State Budget (~$12–14M, less than 0.01% of the school building program).

Our Story

A Century Built by Parents

Murrumbeena State School opened in 1919. Generations of local families have built this school with their own hands — the 1996 hall was their proudest gift. A full-sized gym is now our most urgent need.

1919 — the school opens its doors to Murrumbeena families

1990 — pool heating paid for by the school fete

1992 — amphitheatre built by the community

1996 — school hall built with 100% parent donations

2025 — nearly $1 million raised locally in a single year

2026 — the community campaigns for a full-sized gym: school facility by day, community hub always

The Case

A top school in a bottom-tier hall

Ranked #7 government primary school in Victoria — in facilities our community would not accept. The hall is about half the size of a standard gym, its sub-floor plumbing is failing, and it cannot hold all 550+ students at once.

won by St Kilda PS in May 2026 after a sustained community campaign — doing exactly what we are doing now.

Two gyms are built and two more under construction within a few kilometres — all state-funded since 2020. The State has rezoned Murrumbeena for 6–12 storeys and 63,500 more Glen Eira homes. Growth is policy — the indoor space to hold it must be policy too.
