It's our turn
Between 2016 and 2026 the State funded gyms at Carnegie, Glen Huntly, Caulfield South and Hampton — all within a few kilometres of Murrumbeena. Here is the case for the same investment in our school.
The ask
Fund Stages 2 & 3 of the school's VSBA-approved masterplan in the 2027–28 State Budget.
What it builds
A full-size, competition-grade gymnasium and community sports hub — a school facility by day, a shared community asset every other hour.
What it costs
~$12–14M — less than 0.01% of the State's school building program.
Why now
Facilities are rated Poor. Four neighbouring schools have received state-funded gyms since 2020. Equity is not special treatment; it is the same investment.
Every neighbouring school got its gym

Carnegie PS — opened 2021
Full-sized gym, state-funded and open to community hire.
Glen Huntly PS — opened 2023
Competition-grade gym, state-funded.
Caulfield South PS — building now
Competition-grade gym under construction, state-funded.
Hampton PS — building now
$13.2M for a competition-grade gym — after a sustained community advocacy campaign. Doing exactly what we are doing.
Meanwhile, Murrumbeena's facilities are rated Poor — parents fund the repairs, but a new hall is not something sausage sizzles can buy.
